Modern Slavery Statement
Handmade should never mean made at someone’s expense. This statement sets out, plainly, where Lamp & Glow stands on modern slavery, forced labour, child labour and human trafficking — in our own atelier and in our supply chain.
1.Who this statement covers
This statement is made on behalf of the companies operating the Lamp & Glow brand — Lamp & Glow (Private) Limited (Pakistan) and Pillarstone General Trading and Services FZ-LLC (United Arab Emirates) — and covers our atelier, our people and our suppliers.
2.Our position
We have zero tolerance for slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, child labour and human trafficking, in any form, at any tier of our business or supply chain. This is not a compliance posture; it is the character of a family workshop where the maker’s dignity has always been part of the craft.
3.Our own workshop
Unlike brands built on distant, anonymous factories, everything we sell is made in one atelier by people we employ directly — more than thirty makers, from apprentices to masters. That closeness is our strongest safeguard:
- Every maker is employed directly, of their own free will, and paid fairly and on time.
- No worker pays recruitment fees, surrenders documents, or works under debt to us — practices we consider theft of freedom.
- We employ no children. Our apprenticeship tradition trains adults in a craft, the way it trained the generation before them.
- Working conditions, hours and safety are those we would accept for our own family — because for three generations, the workshop largely has been family.
4.Our supply chain
Our supply chain is deliberately short: timber, electrical components, finishing materials and packaging supplies, bought from known suppliers with whom we deal directly. We expect every supplier to meet the same standards we hold ourselves to — freely chosen labour, no children, fair payment — and we will not continue with any supplier where we find otherwise. A short chain is easier to see down, and we intend to keep ours short.
5.Raising a concern
If anyone — a worker, a supplier’s worker, a customer, anyone — has a concern about labour practices connected to our business, we want to hear it directly: support@lampandglow.com. Concerns are reviewed personally by management, treated confidentially, and acted upon. No one will ever face retaliation for raising one in good faith.
6.About this statement
We publish this statement voluntarily. Laws such as the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 formally require statements only from companies far larger than ours — but we sell to homes in those countries, and we believe standards should not depend on company size. This statement is reviewed and updated as our business grows; the date above shows the current version.
